England’s Alex Blake to play in Nepal’s EPL

England batsman Alex Blake will play for the Lalitpur Patriots in the fourth edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL) in September. Lalitpur Patriots said in a press release on Wednesday that 32 year old middle-order batsman Alex has joined the team.

A left-handed batsman, he has played 46 first-class, 106 List A and 140 T20 games. He has scored a total of 1,890 runs in T20 cricket, including nine half-centuries. The best performance is 71 runs unbeaten. He plays domestic cricket for England’s famous club Kent. He has also played for England’s U-19 team.

Lalitpur last year signed Pakistan’s Hamad Hassan, Hassan Khan, Mir Hamza and Sri Lankan left-arm opener Upul Tharanga as foreign players. But due to Corona, the EPL could not be held on time. Former winners Lalitpur have Gyanendra Malla, Sandeep Jora, Pawan Sararf, Kushal Bhurtel, Sonu Tamang and Yogendra Singh Karki among others. Bibhatsu Thapa and Ario Poudel were selected from the Talent Hunt.

The EPL will be held at the TU ground from 25 September to 9 October. Kathmandu Kings XI has announced Shahid Afridi of Pakistan, Dinesh Chandimal of Bhairahawa Gladiators, Danish Aziz of Chitwan Tigers and Mohammad Shahzad of Afghanistan. Pokhara Rhinos and Biratnagar Warriors have not made foreign players public
