Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged his British counterpart Boris Johnson to provide the corona vaccine.
Talking to BBC, Prime Minister Oli also mentioned that it is the responsibility of the UK to provide vaccines to Nepal as there are historical ties between the two countries.
“I want to reassure the British government, and especially Prime Minister Boris Johnson, about the situation in Nepal and the problems we are facing,” said Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Prime Minister Oli has also mentioned that corona will come under control if Nepal vaccinates the people, otherwise it will be difficult to control.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that the UK is Nepal’s oldest friend and that there has been a direct request for vaccination. “Gurkha soldiers have been working in the UK for many years, risking their lives,” Oli said. “Many Gurkha soldiers working in the UK have families in Nepal, so there is a strong connection between the two countries.”
The BBC has also spoken to the British Foreign Office after the Prime Minister asked the British Prime Minister for vaccination. A British Foreign Office spokesman said the UK was with Nepal to fight the Corana epidemic.
A spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs said the UK was a leading supplier of healthcare to Nepal. A spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs said that the vaccine would be provided to Nepal through Covax.
