Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has directed to find the culprits of Nirmala Pant’s murder and take action. On Sunday, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and Inspector General of Police Shailesh Thapa were called to the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar and instructed to find Nirmala’s killer and take action.
On Sunday, the third anniversary of Nirmala’s assassination, Prime Minister Deuba summoned Home Minister Khanna and IGP Thapa to Baluwatar to inquire about the ongoing investigation into Pant’s murder.
He also directed to find the culprits as soon as possible and take action, according to Prime Minister Deuba’s Secretariat.
On Sunday, Nirmala’s relatives handed over a memorandum to the Prime Minister and Home Minister through the Chief District Officer demanding to find the killer in Kanchanpur.
Nirmala, a girl from Kanchanpur, was killed after being raped on July 26, 2018. Her body was found in a sugarcane field near Mahendranagar-Ultakham road.
Police have not yet been able to gather evidence as some suspects have been arrested and released in the case. The family complains that the hope of getting justice has been dying as the culprit has not been found for years. One person was shot dead by police during the agitation demanding justice for Nirmala.
