Number of youths going abroad increase in Darchula as there are no employment opportunities in the country

A large number of youths are going abroad from Darchula district every year. Last year alone, 215 youths including 38 women and 177 men have gone abroad from the district.

According to the District Administration Office, Darchula, 391 people including 43 women and 348 men, were sent to Kathmandu under the express service last year, said Rakesh Singh Thagunna, head of the Passport Division at the District Administration Office, Darchula.

Revenue of Rs.1 million 80 thousand has been collected through passport in the last fiscal year. As the number of people going abroad from the district has increased, so has the number of people taking passports.

The District Administration Office has been collecting passport revenue from the general public. He said that Rs. 5,000 was taken for the recommendation of ordinary passport. According to the District Administration Office, Darchula, the revenue from the fast passport service is Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000.

The district administration office only makes recommendations for faster passport service.

Most of the passport holders are going for foreign employment. It is said that 11 people have taken passports so far in the current fiscal year. Even now, 4 to 5 youths are taking passports from the district administration office every day, according to the administration.

Since there is no guarantee of employment in the country, the youths have gone abroad. The rural areas have become youthless as a large number of young people are fleeing abroad for employment every year.
