Monsoon active: Chances of heavy rain in Nepal

The Department of Water and Meteorology has stated that monsoon winds are affecting the country. Currently, there is light to moderate rain in most parts of Gandaki, as well as in Province No. 1, Province No. 2, Bagmati Province and a few places in Lumbini Province.

According to the department, light to moderate rains are likely in many parts of the country from Saturday to Monday as the monsoon low pressure line is likely to come close to the Terai region of Nepal and water vapor-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal.

According to the Weather Forecast Division, light to moderate rain is expected in many places across the country on Saturday afternoon. There is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder/lightning in a few places in Sudurpashchim, Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati, Province 2 and Province 1.

There is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder/lightning at night in Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Lumbini and a few places in Province 1. Heavy rain with thunderstorm is expected in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and a few places in the Sudurpashchim on Sunday.

There is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder/lightning in a few places in Province 1, Province 2, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim Province on Monday.

According to the Flood Forecasting Division, the water level in Mahakali, Karnali, Gandaki and its tributaries is expected to rise significantly today and also in Koshi and its tributaries.

Sudurpashchim, Karnali and Lumbini provinces, especially Mahakali, Karnali, Bheri, Seti, Tinau, West Rapti, Babai and other rivers are forecast to increase significantly and cross the alert level.
