Kathmandu in the list of 10 most polluted cities in the world

Kathmandu is in the top 10 list of the world’s most polluted cities. As of 9.45 am on Tuesday, Kathmandu’s air is on the list of the 9th most polluted cities in the world.

According to IQER, which released the list on the basis of air quality measurement, Kathmandu was the sixth most polluted city in the world on Tuesday. According to IQER, headquartered in Switzerland, air quality in Kathmandu is currently at an ‘unhealthy’ level.

The atmosphere in Kathmandu Valley has not been clean for some days now. In the morning, Tuvalo is covering the atmosphere. The eyes begin to experience pain, itching and burning of the nose. Last year, the government had to close schools for four days due to rising pollution.

According to Polunus.gov.np, the atmosphere in the Kirtipur area is more polluted on Wednesday. Air in Pokhara, Simara, Bharatpur, Dhankuta and Nepalgunj has also reached polluted condition.

The Government of Nepal has also made provision for air pollution emergency in the Air Quality Management Action Plan for Kathmandu Valley. The action plan passed by the cabinet meeting on 3 January 2076 clearly states that disaster will be declared after exceeding 300 AQI. At present, the AQI of Kathmandu is around 160.
