Nepal to increase manpower of Armed Police Force

Nepal’s Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has said that the government is serious about providing manpower to the Armed Police Force, which has an important responsibility for the security of the country and the people.

Addressing a function organized after the inspection of the Armed Police Force Nepal at Halchowk in Kathmandu today, Home Minister Khand pointed out the need to increase the number of border security posts, increase the capacity of the police and upgrade the existing posts.

He assured that the Government of Nepal was serious about increasing manpower, resources and capacity and that the Armed Police Force was not alone in working in every field. Minister Khand expressed hope that he would fulfill his duties with more responsibilities in the coming days.

“The government will do its best to make the armed police resourceful. I assure the Ministry of Nepal that it will take it seriously,” said Minister Khand. He said the government was working seriously on how to protect ordinary Nepalis as the Corona effect was still a serious challenge.

He directed the Armed Police Force to take the lives of the people more seriously. Minister Khand clarified that the government cannot get away from the problems of the Nepali people as saving the lives of the Nepali people is its first responsibility. He said, “Protecting the lives of ordinary citizens is the first responsibility of all of us, so all security agencies in Nepal should take the initiative seriously.”

He appreciated the role played by health workers, cleaners and security personnel in the difficult situation including the Corona epidemic. Minister Mining stressed on the need for all to be vigilant as there is still a threat of a third wave of Corona in the country.

Minister Khand lauded the role played by the trusted and reliable security forces armed for the security of the country and the people. He appreciated the contribution of the police personnel who are on duty to protect the territory even in difficult conditions.

Home Minister Khand said that the Armed Police Force (APF) has played an important role in controlling smuggling and drug trafficking by actively working for the defense of the Nepali people and Nepal and has made significant contribution in reducing revenue leakage and increasing revenue.

Stating that the duty of protecting the people has been appreciated all over the world amidst limited resources, Home Minister Khand said that the Armed Police Force has played an equal role in the security of every sector.

He also said that the armed forces had done a remarkable job in rescuing and saving lives in the event of an accident. He said that the role of the armed forces was also important for the security of the project of national pride and control of violent activities.

Stressing that no anti-Nepal activities should take place, he said that Nepal’s role of neutrality should not be jeopardized as it believes in the principle of non-alignment and non-aligned policy. He also instructed the Armed Police Force to move forward with a concrete policy and action plan.
