Actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband and businessman Raj Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch on Monday night. His name has surfaced in the pornography racket case. A total of nine people have been arrested along with Raj by the police.
Appears to be the main conspirator
In February this year, the Mumbai Police had registered a case of making obscene films and releasing them through apps. The Mumbai Crime Branch was probing the case for the past few months. According to the police, Raj Kundra is coming out as the main conspirator in this case.
There is enough evidence – Police
Mumbai Police issued a statement saying that ‘Crime Branch had registered a case in February for making obscene films and publishing them through certain apps. Raj Kundra has been arrested after investigation. He seems to be the main conspirator in this case. ‘We have enough evidence’ said Mumbai Police
Gehana Vasisth’s name came in front
The police had earlier arrested a person named Umesh Kamat in the case, who said that he works for Kundra’s company. Umesh’s name had cropped up during the interrogation of model and actress Gehana Vasisth. He was arrested on February 6.
Used to sent videos to a company based in England
Umesh Kamat used to work as a coordinator for a company based in England. He used to take obscene videos from Gehna Vashisht and send those videos to an England-based company which was uploaded on an app called ‘Hotshots’.
Shooting used to be done in the Bungalow
This racket was busted on 4 February by conducting raids. The porn video was made in a bungalow in Malad (West), Mud area. Every year hundreds of boys and girls arrive in Mumbai with the dream of working in films. Such videos were made from him on the pretext of giving work in web series and short films. These pornographic videos were uploaded on many mobile apps and porn websites.
Many others also arrested
The police had arrested several people during the initial raids. Among them was Rova Khan aka Yasmin who claimed to be a producer-director herself. Photographer Monu Sharma, creative director Pratibha Nalwade, actors Arish Sheikh and Bhanu Thakur were also arrested by the police.
Shooting equipment seized
Gehana Vasisth’s role was also found in the video making and uploading case and she was also arrested. During the investigation, equipment worth Rs 5.68 lakh was seized which was used for shooting at the bungalow. These had all the cameras from mobile phones to other equipments.
